The Bleeding Teeth Nerite shell, scientifically named "Nerita peloronta," is known for its short-spired, thick shell and distinctive red coloration around its "teeth" near the opening. This gives the shell the appearance of a bleeding tooth and is typically seen as a reddish-orange stain against a yellowish or creamy shell with darker streaks or zigzag patterns. Found on rocky shores in the Caribbean and East Coast of Florida, this species is considered large, reaching up to 2 inches in length.
